Just another blog about my views on stuff and things (mostly stuff, things aren't as cool) and what ever else is going on in my life.

Is It That Time Of Year Already?

It’s seems that this is the time of year for all the big bands to start their touring and its sending me broke. In the past month or so bands like Karnivool, Tool, Panic! At The Disco (P!ATD), Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeath, Killswitch Engage, Atreyu, 36 Crazyfists, Rise Against and many more bands that I would love to see have announced that they are touring Melbourne. Most of the tickets for these gigs range from $20 (Karnivool – awesome aussie band!) to $115 (Tool – Also awesome but so expensive because the promoters know that people will pay a lot of money to see them), the rest of the bands mentioned are around the $50 mark. So add all that together and you have a very costly month.

Sadly I can’t afford to go to all of these gigs so I’ve had to choose the ones I really would like to go to and think will be entertaining shows. So far I have tickets to Karnvivool (to both shows) and P!ATD (also to both shows) secured and have the cash saved for Tool because it’s one band you just don’t want to miss when they are out here. I missed Avenged Sevenfold which blows because they are a band I’m really starting to get into at the moment plus one of my favourite Melbourne bands (Mammal) was supporting them. With the rest of the gigs quickly approaching I’m aiming to buy one ticket to one show as each pay week comes along starting with Rise Against. This is fine in theory and a good way of being able to see the bands I love however I do run the risk of the gigs selling out, which is a very likely outcome.

Why are so many bands announcing tours around the same time of year? Surely the promoters would realise that with all these tickets being released at such close dates people can’t afford all these tickets at once. I know it’s not just me struggling with this problem, as I know several people who also want to go to a lot of the gigs mentioned above but can’t spare the cash because they have blown it on other tickets. We can’t be the only people around Australia with this problem, I don’t see any logic behind announcing and selling these tickets so close together.

Well it is pretty hard to plan ticket sales for people who don't have money.

the point im trying to make is that surely they should realise that there are alot more people out there like me who are fans of all these bands because it's similar (some of the bands anyway) music.
