I wanna be a Guitar Hero!
I’ve always had a habit of getting drawn into fads such as Pokêmon, yo-yos, marbles, Yugio and DDR just to name a few. The latest “fad” (although I pray it isn’t a fad) I’ve fallen for is Guitar Hero. For those of you who have been living under a rock ignorant of the complete awesomeness that is this phenomenon, Guitar Hero is a game on the PS2 (now Xbox 360 and coming soon to Wii, PS3 and even the DS) that has you rocking out on a plastic guitar to a huge variety of rock music.
Rach and I got so hooked into the game shortly after playing it a friend’s house one night we went out and bought a PS2 just so we could play the game. From that point on there was no turning back, we spent countless hours together honing our skills working our way through the set list together.
Now 5 months since we first purchased the game I’m still hooked, it’s the only game since I completed Final Fantasy 7 many years ago that’s held my attention for this long. I’m so hooked into this game I’ve even rigged up a fake guitar neck made from cardboard so I can practice moving my fingers for doing “hammer-ons” and “pull-offs” in the game.
Before the taunting and teasing begins let me tell you I already know this is quite lame and instead spending so much time on Guitar Hero I should be practicing actual instruments or my singing. In my defence however I tend to only mess around with my cardboard guitar neck when I’m having lunch at work or reading through documents, you could almost say I’m multi-tasking… almost.
Guitar Hero is increasing in popularity as time goes on. People have gone to great lengths to customize their guitars, from different paint styles to rigging up foot pedals to activate the “starpower” in the game, there has even been a working Guitar Hero controller made entirely from Lego designed for the game.
There is now a web site called Scorehero (http://www.scorehero.com)dedicated to users registering their scores to rank the greatest players in the world. I have registered an account my username is "bpruha" if anyone wishes to search for me which I’ve only filled in one song. I have also registered a co-operative team for “Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80s Encore” consisting of Rachel and I to see how we rank as a team in the world of co-op Guitar Hero.
I now have 7 songs left to pass the game on expert, but even after that I still have a lot to do on the game. There are still bonus songs to complete as well as trying the daunting task of trying to “5 star” all the songs on expert for my Log Guitar.
Anyway enough nerdy rambling for me today.
Peace out!

You really did blog more often! By the way, for some reason on myspace when I click the link to this site, it never works. Just thought I'd inform you :P (Elyse)
The link works for me :)
Maybe you have a setting disabled on your pc elyse?
Nice work on Expert Bro, you'd totally kick my butt now. I've done 31 songs on Hard. Bloody "Woman" means I probably wont ever get far on expert. Took me ages to get it on Hard!
Personally i don't use it but try the hyperspeed cheat, the "professionals" use it and it isn't classified as cheating.
O=Orange, B=Blue, Y=Yello
At the menu hit: OBOYOBOYOBOYOBOY
It speeds up the fret board but the notes are spaced out so its easier to read, give it a whirl
